Sleeping Beauty

Saturday, March 19, and Sunday, March 20

The Festival Ballet Theatre brings this classic ballet to the Irvine Barclay Theatre in the University Town Center neighborhood. This love story features international stars Marcelo Gomes and Gillian Murphy supported by the Festival Ballet Theatre’s impressive company of dancers. First performed by the Russian Imperial Ballet in 1890, the performance is set to the music of Peter Tchaikovsky.

Spring Dance Concert

Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7

The Spring Dance Concert, hosted at the Irvine Valley College for Performing Arts Center, features work by dance faculty, guest dancers, and students who perform in many genres of dance from hip hop and jazz to modern dance, ballet, and international dance.

Julie Albers and Orion Weiss

Sunday, April 3

Julie Albers and Orion Weiss will perform with the Philharmonic Society of Orange County at the Irvine Barclay Theatre at the beginning of April. Albers is the principal cellist for the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and is known for her artistry and performance style. Pianist Orion Weiss is noted for his technical mastery and well-crafted performances. The pair will perform Janacek’s Fairy Tale, Beethoven’s 12 Variations on Mozart’s “Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen” in F major, and Poulenc’s Sonata for Cello and Piano.

China Oriental Song and Dance Troupe

Saturday, April 9

The world-renowned China Oriental Song and Dance Troupe will perform at the Irvine Barclay Theatre on April 9. Known for their performances at Shanghai Expo 2010 and the China Pavilion at Milan Expo 2015, the troupe will perform National Beauty, a dance poem inspired by calligraphy, the team ceremony, and bamboo painting.
