Looking for fun things to do in the city this spring? There’s plenty going on around Irvine to keep the whole family entertained. Here are a few fun and family-friendly suggestions from the staff at Irvine Residential Living.
Gorgeous weather means outdoor activities abound! A favorite in Irvine is biking. With 54 miles of paved, off-street bike trails, Irvine is a cyclist’s paradise! Get trail maps and more information about biking Irvine at the Open Space and Nature Program.
Take the Kids to The Pretend City Children’s Museum
At The Pretend City Children’s Museum, there’s something happening every day. Join them April 10-16 for special activities celebrating the Week of the Young Child. They’re also celebrating Earth Day, Passover, Frog Jumping Day (May 13) and Mother’s Day. Where else are you going to go to celebrate National Chicken Dance Day?
Head to the Korean Festival
The seventh annual Korean Cultural Festival at the Irvine Civic Center is May 14th. Enjoy music, dance and other performances. Create your own crafts at the craft fair. And of course there will be food! At the festival, you can sample cuisine from some of the finest restaurants in Irvine.
See the View from the OC Great Park Balloon
Get a bird’s eye view of Irvine from the Orange County Great Park Balloon. It’s one of the largest tethered helium balloons in the world. Of course if you’d rather stay on the ground, there’s also the hand-painted Great Park Carousel! It’s a favorite with kids of all ages and it’s wheelchair accessible.
Check Out the Studio Arts Festival
If you want your art with a side of ice cream, then the Studio Arts Festival at the Irvine Fine Arts Center in Heritage Park June 4th may be more your style. The festival showcases the work of local artists with demonstrations, live music and food.
The Orange County Great Park Farm + Food Lab offers a unique, interactive, outdoor classroom featuring themed gardens, like the spaghetti garden, to help kids make the connection between the food they eat and where it comes from. On Sundays stop by the Farmers Market to pick up seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh breads, and other artisan goods.
