Large Music Events Coming To Irvine's Great Park

Great Park directors choose Coachella Festival founder to be future events' producer

It sure appears that Irvine's plans for the Great Park area are moving full steam ahead.  We posted a blog a few days ago ("Great Park In Irvine") regarding the filing of plans by the Great Park's developer, Five Point Communities, to begin development of the various residential and commercial communities in this area.  Now there are further plans moving forward related to Great Park, this time dealing with planning large-scale music events that will utilize the sizable park and natural space within the 4,700-acre Great Park project.  According to an article in the OC Register, "Coachella founder to produce Great Park music festival," the Orange County Great Park directors have chosen Goldenvoice LLC, which founded the Coachella Music Festival, to serve as the executive producer and promoter of large-scale and multi-day music events within Great Park.  While the agreement has not be finalized, the plans call for Goldenvoice to produce 1-5 events per year and contribute towards improvements within Great Park that will be mutually beneficial, including landscaping and other improvements.

As if the addition of Great Park real estate isn't enough, now it appears that Great Park is looking to become one of the entertainment centers of Irvine and Orange County in general.  Large-scale music events can be a boon for local economies if done properly, and Goldenvoice has shown a successful track record with its highly popular Coachella Festival.
