When spending a fun-filled day at the beach, you can sometimes feel a little anxiety about everything from getting your things covered with sand to losing your valuables. Make sure you have the best beach experience this summer by following these must-do beach hacks, presented by Irvine Residential Living.
1. Use a Ziploc Bag for Your Cell Phone
Put your phone in a sandwich bag with a zipper to protect it from getting any sand or water on it. If you have a touchscreen phone, you can still use it while it’s being protected in the bag.
2. Make Your Keys Float
Should you accidentally drop your keys in the water, you’ll have a much better chance of finding them if they float. Grab a cork from an old wine bottle and attach to your keys before heading to the beach.
3. Keep Unattended Money Safe
If you want to dive into to the water to cool off without feeling concerned about leaving your cash unattended, don’t bring your change purse. Simply roll up your bills and put them in either an empty marker or lipstick case, leaving mischievous beachgoers none the wiser.
4. Keep the Sand Off
Place a fitted sheet right side down and anchor with four items (one in each corner) like a beach bag or cooler to ensure your personal space remains sand-free.
5. Soothe a Sunburn with Aloe Vera Ice Cubes
Put an ice cube tray filled with aloe vera gel in your freezer the night before you go to the beach. Put this tray in the cooler that you’re taking to the beach. If you spend a lot of time relaxing or playing hard on the beach, you may get a little sunburn. You can relieve the pain from your sunburn by rubbing one or two of your homemade aloe vera ice cubes on it.
6. Keep Valuables Safe
If you’re concerned about leaving other items unattended, like sunglasses or cellphones, you can almost guarantee that no one will go near your valuables if you keep them securely wrapped in what looks like a dirty diaper.
