Springtime in Irvine means more than just being able to enjoy postcard weather. As the most successful planned city in the United States, Irvine offers a range of fun and interesting activities ideal for both resident and visitors. By being located between San Diego and Anaheim, Irvine has been trying to get a bit of market share from the lucrative Southern California tourism sector. What this means for locals and visitors is that they can find plenty of fun things to do in the spring. Whether you own real estate in Irvine or are just visiting the area, here are six spring events worthy of your attention.
1. Harmony of Light at the Irvine Museum
Artists have been inspired by the sights, sounds, and scents of the California spring for ages. The Golden State is at its prettiest during the spring, and this is something Impressionist painters such as Paul de Longpré and Millard Sheets have delicately captured on canvas. From now until June 21st, the Irvine Museum will exhibit Harmony of Light, a collection of paintings focused on California landscapes in springtime. The museum is located at 18881 Von Karman Avenue, and it is open from 11am to 5pm Tuesday through Saturday with free admission.
2. Top of the Barrel Vintage Cocktails
In the days before the era of American Prohibition, mixing cocktails with brown spirits were virtually an art form. Vermouth, whiskey, and bourbon were properly aged and smoked in spiced barrels for at least three weeks before pouring. If you would like to taste old-fashioned cocktails such as the Manhattan and Negroni the way they were meant to be mixed, visit the Red Bar and Lounge at 17900 Jamboree Road all through spring.
3. Irvine Korean Cultural Festival
Every year, the vibrant Korean community of Irvine gets together to celebrate art, culture, kinship, and heritage. You will be able to enjoy music, dance, food, theater, crafts, and family activities at the Irvine Civic Center on Saturday, May 12th from 10am to 5pm.
4. Memorial Day Ceremony
The 2nd Battalion, 11th Field Artillery Regiment of the United States Marine Corps will attend Memorial Day ceremonies at the Civic Center Plaza on Monday, May 28th. Stationed at Camp Pendleton, the 2/11 Marines have been adopted by the City of Irvine. The ceremony will take place at 10am.
5. Studio Arts Festival
Paintings, photography, sculptures, ceramics, crafts, and jewelry made by Southern California artists will be displayed at Heritage Community Park on Saturday, June 2nd from 9am to 5pm. You will be able to enjoy live music, ice cream sundaes, and local cuisine at this free admission event.
6. The Home Entertainment Show
This consumer trade show is perfect for audiophiles, music fans, electronics enthusiasts, and anyone else who may be interested in home theater and digital entertainment. The Home Entertainment Show will take place at the Marriott Irvine Spectrum on Irvine Center Drive from Friday June 1st through Sunday June 3rd.
